Heard of Pink Pussycat Records? They're a brand spanking new label and they're kicking off 2012 with a single from Carla Magnasiks. You can check out her track, 'Exotique Robotique' after the jump (it's kinda woozy and chill and cool), along with Carla's top ten house songs. Awesome sauce.
1. Maya Jane Coles - "Something In The Air" [Hypercolor]
Taken from her excellent 'Don't Put Me In Your Box' EP, Maya has been a star of 2011. This track has featured in my recent sets and works a treat because of the smooth, deep and melodic vibe.
2. Maya Jane Coles - "Nowhere" (Original mix) [Loco]
Another favourite of mine from Maya. Brilliant groove track with a soothing vocal that hits the spot.
3. Fred Falke - "Aurora" [Work It Baby]
Filtered and electronic, funky and dancefloor - love this style!
4. James Johnston - "A New Day Begins" [Fine Art]
Deep, soulful and very polished. A producer that I only discovered in 2011 but very pleased that I did. All his tracks are always of the highest calibre.
5. Julio Bashmore - "Battle For Middle You" [PMR]
Played by everyone! Simple yet so effective. Old skool synth line sounds incredible when put through a good sound system.
6. JPStebbo Feat MusicIzMee4Ever - "E.L.E.C.T.R.I.C"
Got sent a link to this tune and loved it straight away. Sounds like Todd Edwards meets Annie. Great cut ups for this pop-house cut.
7. Lone - "Coreshine Voodoo" [R&S]
Matt Cutler reminds me of 808 State but with a modern twist. This release for R&S has featured heavily in my sets since it got released.
8. GB - "The Xpander" [Gifted & Blessed]
Found this after listening to the Alexander Nut show on Rinse FM. GB has an amazing sound. He uses all original synthesizers and it shows in the richness of the productions.
9. Mr Beatnick - "Synthetes" [Don't Be Afraid]
One word - 'Strings!'
10. Magnasiks - "Exotique Robotique" [Pink Pussycat]
My debut release for Pink Pussycat! Very excited about 2012 and releasing more music.
'Exotique Robotique' is out on January 16th.
