So many new releases, so little time. Here's a list of ten new tracks released this week that have caught our attention.
Jess Mills – ‘Pixelated people’ Released February 12
This is dark, catchy electro with a massive-attack vibe to it. It’s bass heavy and produced by the guy who does Magnetic Man and Skream, so it must be good right? I want her to be my friend and she also has a BANGING dipdye.
Lianne La Havas – ‘Forget’ Released 13th February
The 1st release since she got ‘cool’ Forget is a good song about love or something. I like her wailing vocals and she does look quite cool in the video.
The Rosie Taylor Project – ‘Twin Beds’ Released 13th February
Have you been feeling down lately due to the recession yadda yadda well instead of wallowing The Rosie Taylor project have apparently used this melancholia to their advantage and created a beautiful, light album summing all this up.
14th – ‘Take me there’ Released 13th February 2012
Reminiscent of past early 90’s dance & soul tracks due to the incredible vocals that remind me of melted muscovado sugar. This duo’s track has perfect production and wait till the drop, its great.
Allo Darlin’ – ‘Capricornia’ Released 13th February
The first single from their second album Europe, 'Capricornia' has an uplifting, joyous feel. Very 6music if you get what I mean. I like the lyrics. Also I would very much like if they would change their name. Ok bye.
Midnight Lion – ‘Sleeping in The Woods’ Released 13th February
I love this track it reminds me of heavy choruses of the 80’s but mixed with a more art house sound leading to a dark, subtle track. Also the EP comes with a cover of Princes 'When Doves Cry', A-MAZING
One Direction – ‘One Thing’ Released 12th February
‘Nuff said
The Wave Pictures – ‘Eskimo Kiss’ Released 18th February
The debut single from their forthcoming album, featuring the drummers vocals and apparently recorded over 4 days in a canteen in Harlem (!?!), it sounds pretty darn good.
Atomic Forest – ‘Obsession’ Released 13th February
Ok I’m not going to lie I hadn’t heard of “The only Indian psychedelic/hard rock band that managed to record an album” before but they sound absolutely wicked. This is a collection of recordings from 1973-1977. So have a listen and imagine your lying on a beach in Goa or something smoking a doobie.
Azari and III – ‘Reckless with your love’ Released 13th February
Basically I’m really biased as I love Azari and I think this is musical perfection. Also this live is mindblowingly great.
