Argentina born and London raised Malena Zavala has announced the release of her debut album, Aliso, on 13th April through Yucatan Records and shared her laid back new single ‘Could You Stay’.
Malena draws inspiration from her family – from the strong Latino character of her mother, to her free-thinking Grandmother and her brother, who she played with in a band for five years, before he moved to California. When he moved, Malena followed him over and stayed in his house in Aliso Viejo, California where she wrote most of what would become her debut album, in just a few weeks. Within six months she had recorded, produced, mixed (with the help of Gareth Jones*), completed all the art, visuals and videos.
‘Could You Stay’ follows previous single ‘Should I Try‘. Here’s what Malena had to say about the track:
This song is a learning process on creative vibe for me. A song to make me feel warm when it’s cold here in London. It’s also about having a crush on a friend and never telling them… but it’s not serious, it’s easy going.
Malena’s album release show is happening on 9th May at Bermondsey Social Club – grab yourself a ticket from here!
