Remember Pale? They delivered some first class jams and then fell completely off the map. Well, the duo (Alan and Lee) have resurfaced to release their long-awaited debut album.
The self-titled album (get it here) picks up where their previous releases, like The Come Back EP, left off. It’s wall-to-wall with downbeat grooves, glacial electronics and whiplash beats. Yep there are some unavoidable Tears For Fears comparisons but they’re delivered through a 21st century slick R&B filter – Pale’s soulful vocal lines are undeniably tdf.
There are some obvious reasons for the album’s delay – Alan relocated from London to Somerset and had two kids, while Lee escaped to Berlin to “work less and live better.” Lee says his time in Berlin consisted of very occasionally working smashing up modern art at the KW gallery, with the rest of his time spent trying to figure out what he was doing. Lee told BEAT that it’s possible Pale will do another album in their lifetime but “don’t hold your breath.” They’re both aiming to drop their solo projects in 2018 though!
