Listen to the Playlist Com Truise Made Us

Vintage synth enthusiast Com Truise – aka Seth Haley – is releasing Iteration on the 16th June (via Ghostly International). The album is the first for the producer – who was born and raised in upstate New York but now resides in Los Angeles – since his 2011 outing Galactic Melt.

Iteration is set to deliver a fresh wave of Com Truise signature sounds, with the album’s press release describing it as full of “neon-streaked melodies, big drums, robotic grooves and bleary nostalgia” that chart a story of “longing, hope, anxiety, and triumph.”

To get into the groove we asked Truise to put together a playlist of sounds he’s feeling at the moment, check out his selection below:

Grizzly Bear – ‘Mourning Sound’
“This song literally dropped this morning and I had it on repeat from St. Louis to Nashville. I’ve really looking forward to Grizzly Bear’s new record.”

Mac Demarco – ‘On The Level’
“The simple synth pads really get me. It’s such a beautifully executed piece of music.”

Orbital – ‘Halcyon And On And On’
“I really like listening to this track when I first see the city skyline on the horizon as we pull into town. It definitely has something to do with its usage in the film Hackers.”

Tears For Fears – ‘Listen (Clean Intro)’
“This has been in rotation a lot for me lately. I slept on this song for so long. I was watching a documentary about Tears For Fears and they were talking about the production of this track and then I heard the big crescendo synth lead and I definitely melted.”

Bibio – ‘It Was Willow’
“This is definitely in my top 10 favourite songs to listen to while driving through the Pacific Northwest.”

Aphex Twin – ‘#3’
“Tour can be heartbreaking. The rush of every night and then the long journey everyday to the next rush. I find this song has kept me sane.”

Band of Horses – ‘The Funeral’
“Amazingly beautiful song, its nice to put this on and close your eyes when it hits. Then open them back up and look out the window at the world.”

Mob Deep – ‘Temperature’s Rising’
“Q-Tip crushed this song. One of my favourite uses of a sample in music. It’s so gritty and raw, makes me miss living in New York.”

Johnny Jewel – ‘Slow Dreams’
“A relaxing opus, the entire Windswept record is gold.”

Honey Claws – ‘Digital Animal’
“Such funky production. This is definitely a song I use to release aggression when trying to have personal space on the road.”
