Okay, okay, we’re getting things moving now in our Spring 2017 issue cover reveal. You’ve seen the Blondie one, and the Olly Alexander one, and now it’s time for number three…It’s only one of the best popstars working today, i.e. Charli XCX, a woman who can write a hit song in the time it takes most people to velcro a shoe. Read on please.
Since her emergence as an east London warehouse party urchin in 2008, Charli XCX has been flying the flag for fucked up pop music that hits you round the head, kicks you in the groin and makes you want to dance. Her forthcoming third album, produced by SOPHIE and Stargate, sees her take that winning formula (she’s also written hits for the likes of Icona Pop, Iggy Azalea and Selena Gomez), soak it in champagne and pour it into some pink latex.
Shot by Chad Moore in LA, this is The Hit Machine:
Lovely, right? Right.
BEAT editor Michael Cragg did the interview, but that alone didn’t feel glitzy enough so we also asked Charli’s BFF Paris Hilton (!!!! P A R I S H I L T O N !!!!) to WhatsApp her some questions and so that’s in there too.
That’s hot. Honestly.
We’re not going to beat around the bush and try and keep things mysterious, the other people in the issue are as follows (it’s six covers featuring people we love and respect, no agenda):
We’ll be putting the other covers up this week and then peppering your broadband with the interviews after that.
You can now order yourself a copy from this here shop.
Boom and indeed clap.
