Bey-hold, it’s a bright, shiny new year! So to kick it off, let’s take a hearty look at the best thing that happened last year / ever at BEAT. Yes that’s right, we are throwing it all the way back to  that time Beyoncé was on the cover of BEAT. I mean, can you even believe that Ryan McGinley shot her for us, wearing a swimming costume with our logo on it and holding a chicken? Cuz I can’t. The Maldives, Phuket, Croatia; anywhere I can see the ocean.


What’s your favourite thing to do on a Sunday?


Pray and meditate.
Cuddle in bed with
my man and my baby.
Eat brunch with my family.
Paint and listen to great music.
Have a beer.
Eat pizza.
Make love.

What book did you last read?


To be honest, I just read ‘The THANKFUL Book’ to Blue an hour ago before I dropped her off at school. For myself, I’m reading ‘The Untethered Soul’ by Michael A. Singer.


When was the last time you laughed until you cried?


When I was playing the Ellen DeGeneres game “heads up” with tequila shots on my birthday.

What is your favourite pizza topping?


Extra tomato sauce and jalapeños.


What does love feel like?


Eating my mother’s gumbo.

What came first: the chicken or the egg?


Definitely the egg.


What does fear taste like?


Success. I have accomplished nothing without a little taste of fear in my mouth.

What’s the most important lesson being a mother has taught you?


I have learned patience, to see the things that are invisible, and the value of time. We are born with only a certain amount of heartbeats. Be wise with what or whom you choose to spend your energy on.


Favourite sandwich filling?




Is kale overrated?


Not at all.


What’s the key ingredient to a great salad?


A great dressing.



If you went to a Beyoncé-themed Halloween party what era would you go as?


Destiny’s Child ‘Survivor’ era with the army fatigues. Or maybe ‘Bootylicious’ with the gold tooth and pink tips in my hair.


Do you still wake up in a panic thinking you haven’t done your homework?


I now wake up in a panic that I didn’t answer all my emails.
